The Art of Salem Beiruti

Says Salem Beiruti:

I was born in Lebanon, grew up between Lebanon and Abu Dhabi. I studied in Lebanon and got my degree in interior design, another degree in fine arts, and publicity. I moved to Amman, Jordan, between 2006 and 2013; now I’m based in Madrid, Spain.

My skill evolves every time I draw something new. I clearly expressed my passion to draw the male form specifically for about two years, more or less, right after I moved to live in Madrid. Before that my work was based on advertising campaigns mainly, and not personal artwork. In Madrid I got the chance to have a direct contact with models, feeling more the essence of my subject and appreciating the beauty of the human body. This is what leads me always to express myself in each artwork, and this is my passion.

“Get Out of My Bag!”

Writes photographer Samantha Starr . . .

Get out of my bag! This black-tailed jackrabbit actually stole a granola bar package from the pocket of my backpack. When I took it away from him and zipped it inside the bag he tried to find it again. Normally the jacks are extremely shy around people. It was believed that this one had been in a rehab and got used to people and was then released to this park when it was well. It would come right up to people and nibble their shoelaces and nose around in their stuff.

For all thinking he’s too skinny and needs my granola bar, you’re wrong. The jackrabbits always look like that, tall gangly things. The preserve is abundant with lush green foliage, seed pods and grasses that the rabbits eat. He didn’t need people food and he was chewing the plastic packaging which I didn’t want him to ingest. It’s bad for them and illegal to feed wildlife in the preserve. Did you know that when you feed animals food that’s not part of their natural diet it changes the bacteria in their gut so they have trouble digesting the things they normally eat? Not good!

Men Amidst Flora

To celebrate the return of spring here in the northern hemisphere, I share a selecion of images of men amidst flora, both indoor and outdoor. These images are accompanied by a beautiful poem by Wendell Berry. Enjoy!

Sowing the seed,
my hand is one with the earth.

Wanting the seed to grow,
my mind is one with the light.

Hoeing the crop,
my hands are one with the rain.

Having cared for plants,
my mind is one with the air.

Hungry and trusting,
my mind is one with the earth.

Eating the fruit,
my body is one with the earth.

– Wendell Berry

Most Famously

The brown hare is Britain’s fastest land mammal. Propelled by those powerful hind legs which define its shape as surely as its long, black-tipped ears, the hare has been known to run at speeds exceeding 40mph. Added to its shyness, this astonishing turn of speed accounts for the apparent elusiveness of the hare. Sighted only rarely in some areas for much of the year, it retains a mystique long forfeited by rabbits.

In hare mythology, the hare is a creature with pagan, sacred and mystic associations, by turns benign, cunning, romantic or, most famously, in its March courtship rituals, mad. It is largely silent, preferring to feed at night or, in summer, as the last light fades from the day, a shadowy existence which adds to its mysteriousness in hare mythology.

Setting Free

Every man knows that feeling of setting free their cock from the contraints of clothing. It can be a liberating feeling at anytime, but especially when aroused.

In most situations when we feel the movement of our dick within our clothing, we have to simply sit it out; hide what’s happening with our body until it subsides. But when alone or with a partner or buddy we know and trust, it’s a wonderfully emancipating action and feeling to free our cock from all that’s restricting its phallic energy.
