Valentin studied Artistic Drawing in Brazil before receiving both a Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Clinic Psychology from the University of Porto (Portugal). In many ways his artistic language is based on the psychology of the subconscious, desires, and affections.
He began his career with the exhibition "Santos e Pecadores" in Braga. Since then he has maintained his artistic activity as a designer, painter, and illustrator. His unique artistic style was well-established by 2012 when an art critic labelled his work "homosurrealist," a term Valentin considers accurate in defining his aesthetic language.
Valentin regularly exhibits his work in galleries and institutions throughout Europe. His artwork has also been extensively published in printed and online books and magazines.

About this particular work Valentin says: "It is late in the monastery, the priests have already retired, but the seminarians work late in their illuminations. But the tension of labor increases, and all this tension must be released. Then everything happens, but one must delight in the vision, the bishop, who spies by the door lock, for his pleasure."
