Men Amidst Flora III
With today being World Naked Gardening Day, it seems like a perfect time to post an installment of The Leveret’s “Men Amidst Flora” series.
World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD) is an annual international event generally celebrated on the first Saturday of May by gardeners and non-gardeners alike. WNGD was founded and organized by Mark Storey (consulting editor for Nude & Natural magazine) and permaculturalist Jacob Gabriel, as a project of Body Freedom Collaborative (BFC). In its early days, Storey had a vision of BFC engaging in “guerrilla pranksterism” such as showing up spontaneously in an urban environment and engaging in guerilla gardening.
In the New York Daily News, Storey noted that WNGD is not owned by any one organization. “No particular organization owns World Naked Gardening Day,” he said, “and it’s not actually one large gathering of horticulturists in Seattle who strip down and shear some shrubs together.”

Spiritual Phallicism
Everything is contained within the Divine. Under that premise, Cock Worship is as valid a spiritual practice as any other. To me, Spiritual Phallicism is a lifestyle, an ongoing spell we consciously cast to dispel the false duality of matter versus spirit.
It is beautiful beyond words to witness the rebirth of this ancient tradition which liberates Men from the shackles of guilt, fear and shame and allows them to embrace their sexual nature as Brothers!

Hare House
On one of the many buildings peppering the quiet and winding streets of Gaia, Portugal, is a massive sculpture [of a rabbit or perhaps a hare] made from recycled materials and trash collected from the city.
The sculpture, which was brought to life by Portuguese artist Bordallo II (who often creates animal art using repurposed materials), serves as a subtle yet scathing critique of society’s wastefulness and its consequences for the natural environment. The art piece is also a call for increased social awareness of ecological sustainability.
Gaia is located on the other side of the Douro River and faces the city of Porto. You can get to this city and the sculpture from Porto by crossing the Luís I Bridge or by taking the Teléferico (cable car) down. In fact, the sculpture can be seen from the Teléferico.
Artist: Artur Bordalo.
